About Debbie

I have always enjoyed sketching. Usually sketching the students around me instead of paying attention in class. I took my first art class as a senior in high school and after winning a county-wide art contest, there was no turning back.

After attending San Francisco State University and majoring in business, I decided to try acrylic and porcelain painting classes, eventually dropping the acrylic. I continued with the porcelain painting and added watercolor, then oil painting. My love of animals and the desire to capture the essence of the subject is my challenge. The structure is important; the essence is mandatory.

In addition to exhibiting my artwork here on Claussen Art, you will also find it at the Gold Country Artists Gallery in Placerville, CA. When not painting, you can find me teaching watercolor, oil painting and porcelain painting via Zoom.

I love all animals, dogs in particular. I am an AKC dog show judge and live with my two Golden Retrievers, Nikki and Coco.
